E-TRAN Runtime library for PSCAD - Manual Installation Instructions Notes: - These are instructions on how to install the E-TRAN Runtime library for PSCAD for users who have not purchased and installed E-TRAN. - If you have installed E-TRAN on your computer, you do not have to follow these steps (as the E-TRAN Runtime library will already have been installed). 1) Download the Runtime library (http://www.electranix.com/E-TRAN). The download consists of a compressed .zip file, which you should download and copy to your computer. 2) You will need a zip program installed (such as Winzip which can be downloaded from ) 3) Open the zip file E-TRAN_Runtime_lib_1_2.zip (by double clicking on it in Windows Explorer) and extract the contents to the directory C:\Program Files\E-TRAN_V1 . Be sure to use the option “Use Folder Names” to preserve the directories when you extract the files. In the directory C:\Program Files\E-TRAN_V1, you should now see sub-directories EMTDClib, PSCADlib and additional files. 4) When you start PSCAD, you have to first load the PSCADlib\E-TRAN.psl library (before you load any cases). In PSCAD V4 you should start PSCAD and load this library once, and it will automatically load this the next time you start PSCAD. If you want to autoload the E-TRAN.psl library at startup, the shortcut target should be changed to: "C:\Program Files\PSCAD42\bin\win\PSCAD.exe" PRO "C:\Program Files\E-TRAN_V1\PSCADlib\E-TRAN.psl (replace PSCAD42 with your PSCAD installation directory) 5) If you manually construct a case which uses the E-TRAN models (instead of using E-TRAN to generate the case), then this case must have its “Case Properties” modified to instruct PSCAD to include the E-TRAN EMTDC binary object library (C:\Program Files\E-TRAN_V1\EMTDClib\cf6\E-TRAN.lib) in the link stage when the EMTDC executable is formed: In PSCAD V4.x, this is done by going to the “Project Tree” in PSCAD, and then clicking the right button on the case name (case1 [psc] above), select “Settings”, and then going to the Build tab. PSCAD requires a “8.3 DOS name mangled” pathname to external libraries (this is usually “C:\PROGRa~1\E-TRAN_V1\EMTDClib\cf6\E-TRAN.lib” - the “PROGRa~1” is the name mangled 8.3 way of saying “Program Files”). Enter the full pathname of E-TRAN.lib in the “additional Fortran libraries” box. Note: the “cf6” in the above pathnames refers to the Compaq Fortran 90 Compiler, Version 6. If you are using the Intel Visual Fortran 90 compiler Version 9.x, then replace “cf6” with “if9”. If you are using the GNU compiler, then replace “cf6” with “gnu”.
