E-TRAN - Power System Translation
E-Tran v2.0 released! - November 19, 2008
A new version of E-Tran has been released that includes :
- Added PSS/E V31 support
- Translation of all standard machine, exciters, governors, stabilizers, min/max excitation, and compounding from .dyr file
- Added support for lockless trial/demo licenses
- Support for Intel V9 and V10 Fortran 90 Compilers
- Added support for new transformer data format for resistances (PSCAD V5)
- Added E-TRAN Runtime component to read data from PSS/E .dyr file and use in PSCAD custom models or circuits
- Added E-TRAN Runtime component to detect and find numerical instabilities
- Added E-TRAN Runtime component to scale models (ie 1 wind turbine to 100 turbines) using transformer inductances
Introduction to E-TRAN
Three common challenges which must be overcome are:
- Translation of circuit/network data (differences in PU systems, data entry...).
- The generation of network equivalents.
- Initialization of machine, generators or sources in large inter-connected networks.
E-Tran can:
- Translate PSS/E .raw files into fully initialized PSCAD files
- Generate excellent network equivalents
- Correctly initialize components to loadflow steady state values
- Provide capability for a substitution library, allowing the user to use their detailed models in place of simple loadflow data
The E-TRAN tool is now available commercially.
